Paul

Paul Duhaney is the Artistic Director at Africa Oyé, the free festival which has been a highlight of Liverpool’s cultural calendar since 1992 and which has provided me with much enjoyment (and many Blip opportunities, such as this one www.blipfoto.com/entry/2323374704187934932 ) over the years...

It’s great to be working with Paul and the Oyé team again this year to keep mental wellbeing on the agenda and to speak to the most culturally diverse audience of any of Liverpool’s festivals about the issues which impact on their mental health.

We met today to firm up some of our plans for this year and it’s all looking good!

Until Paul started working at Africa Oye in 1999, the only African musician he was really familiar with was Youssou N’Dour, who featured on '7 Seconds' with Neneh Cherry https://youtube.com/watch?v=wqCpjFMvz-k He’s been delving into music from Africa and the African diaspora ever since, and tens of thousands of festival-goers should be thankful for that!
