Beacon Spitfire
Lovely blast in the sunshine on dry roads to Aylesbury on a mission. On the way home on the A41 I saw a sign for Ivinghoe. I've been there a few times with the car club but have never had the chance to explore, so I headed for the Beacon. I photographed a couple and their dog battling against the wind on the top of a hill in the distance and then decided to go up there myself. It was freezing cold but bright with storm light - so invigorating.
Emboldened I made for the beacon hill itself. A group of lads were launching their radio-controlled model aeroplanes into the fierce wind blowing up the hill. They'd removed the props of the planes as they weren't using the engines. Amazing the the control they had over their soaring craft in those conditions. I really enjoyed spending time with them.
On the way down I trained my camera on a couple of golden retrievers whose coats were catching the late afternoon sunlight when suddenly a squall of hail arrived. (Extras)
When I got back to the car park there were lots of vehicles belonging to Bristol Television And Film Services. They're going to be there for a couple of days filming for Cuckoo, a TV drama.
