Spoonbill
In anticipation of an outing for our bird club that I am leading next week Sunday, took a drive out to Marievale, to see what we could expect. A lot of the migrant waders have returned, which is nice, and the sanctuary itself is looking good, with plenty of Vlei Lilies in flower.
Recorded over 70 species in the 3 hours I was there, so am optimistic for a good outing. The otters were also very active, which is always a joy to see.
This African Spoonbill (Platalea alba) was standing right next to one of the bird hides.
