Carnaval

The Shrove Tuesday Carnaval Parade has nothing to do with the glitz and glamour of samba. That was last Saturday. Today was the crazy locals satirical slapstick parade .

Anything goes. It’s chaotic and homespun and everyone gets involved, Small children, grandparents, exotic and extrovert lovelies - oh, and a few family pets.

Donald Trump masks were in evidence as were themes of nuclear disarmament, conservation, health care - and even the Madeira airport.

It was hard to choose a photo to communicate the atmosphere so I’ve put in a couple of extras.
