An ordinary life....

Whirlwind...

Backblipped 13/02/18

David picked Fiona up at the train station on his way home from Dunbar yesterday evening and after chatting non-stop till bedtime, Fiona and I continued our catch up over breakfast.  We laughed at ourselves for trying to cram everything in as this time there's no rush as she's home from New Zealand for eight months so we are hoping there will be many more opportunities to catch up.

After breakfast we watched the DVD that contains all the old cine films from my childhood that I had converted from video last year.   It was quite emotional because it contains footage of people like her gran, her aunt, my grandparents and my great uncle, who all featured in her childhood and who she loved very much.  She sat with her nose almost touching the tv asking me to pause the footage every two or three minutes so she could take photos on her phone.

After that I put on our wedding dvd.  Fiona was my Chief Bridesmaid and hadn't seen the video.  We only had time to watch a little bit as she had to be in Glasgow by 4pm and we were going out for lunch, but the bit we did see brought back many memories and much hilarity.  We will watch it properly before she heads back down under.

After lunch we dropped her off at Dunblane station for her train to Glasgow and as we headed home, we went a short detour to Dunblane Cathedral as I'd never actually seen it.  It was at that point I realised I had forgotten my camera!  It's beautiful so I will return at some point and hopefully get some decent photos of it.

After dinner we were trying to decide what to watch on TV when I suggested we watch our wedding video since it was handy.  I think this is probably only the second time we have watched it together, the first time being when we got it a month after we were married.

It's our 30th Wedding anniversary next year so a lot of water has gone under with bridge since that bright-eyed young couple walked back up the aisle as a newly married couple, both aged 22, and there were some lump in throat moments as we watched loved ones no longer with us, larger than life in front of our eyes.  Lots of laughter too, especially at the speeches!  David says his was better then he remembered but our poor best man was SO nervous!

We laughed at the Minister thanking the other speech makers and saying "I only have a few words to say" then rattling on for almost half an hour.  A lovely, lovely man but oh how he could blether!  I'm afraid we fast forwarded that part.

The video ends with a still of us looking at the camera and this song playing.  I remember so clearly that feeling of having our whole lives ahead of us, and here we are, in the blink of an eye, almost thirty years later!
