The hole in the floor

Home from work to discover that MrM had been working in our hall for most of the day, continuing to strengthen the joists in this small section before putting down boards. It's a job complicated by the fact that he can't risk Louie, our ancient hound, falling into the hole and possibly through the ceiling of the shop below. It certainly wouldn't do Louie any good and, even if it is an RSPCA shop, I can't imagine they'd appreciate a dog bringing down part of their ceiling!

The boards were put down shortly before MrM and I left for Kirknewton, to see the Northern Stage production of War of the Worlds. A bit of a rush to get out in time, and we nearly didn't go, but we're glad we made the effort as it was very good.
