Mr Blue Sky

Last night it started to rain and this morning when we woke up it was still raining - the worst weather condition to have when skiing as it washes all the snow off the trees and makes the snow sticky and horrible for skiing. The boys and Gavin went up the mountain to ski in the hope that it would improve, but I decided to rather go for a walk. Within a few minutes of leaving home it was raining quite hard and the mist closed in so that you could barely see your hand in front of your face. I gave up and went home as it was just horrible conditions, I certainly could not get any photos in those conditions.

The rain and mist continued all day. Gavin did one run and came back down again as he said it was so awful up there. At lunch time we collected Luke's two university friends who had flown in to spend the weekend with Luke. They could not see anything of the village or the surrounding mountains, it was just white all around us with thick fog and rain. We took them home and I described where the mountains were, as looking out the windows all we saw was white, it was just awful conditions for skiing so they could not go up the mountain.

Thomas' friends left on the 4pm train back to Zurich to fly home again, and I did a quick changeover of cleaning bedrooms and washing bedding and towels, all ready for our new guests.

All of a sudden at about 4.30pm the fog lifted and we got this brilliant blue sky (see extra for a view of the village). Gavin offered to take Luke's friends for a drive around the village so they could see something of it while the light was so good, and no sooner had they left then it closed in again with zero visibility! I really hope that tomorrow will be a better day as they are only here for 2 days. Luke arrives much later, at about 10pm tonight (as he could only leave after work). Fingers crossed for better weather tomorrow and some skiing!
