GIANT'S CAUSEWAY

Backblip

We had another half hour walk this morning after breakfast- good to walk off all that extra calories! This time we were walking to pick up a hire car so we could drive up to the Antrim Coast, first stop the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge - a rope bridge that fishermen made to get over the water to their salmon. It's far sturdier now but still scary as it moves in the wind and when people walk over. I did not look down! I was terrified. The boys were not!!

Great walk here looking over the sea to Scotland, it's that close.

Back to the car for the next walk stopping at a Cafe called The Bothy for excellent coffee and cake and then on to the Giant's Causeway. One word, magnificent!! The hexagonal steps are some sight and right next to the pounding waves, the scenery is also spectacular- we had a great walk although at one point Ben was almost blown off his feet.... we walked further up a hill to the Organ and we looked down to the sea and the rocks.

The actual centre there was also very good. When they were constructing the new centre which opened in 2012, the DUP wanted to inform people wrongly that the rocks were constructed by God around 7,000 years ago instead of the actual scientific fact that they were formed 60 million years ago..... the National Trust who run it endorse the scientist's view not the loony DUP.

time was marching on and it was time to head back to Belfast but first stopped off as it was in the way at the Dark Hedges which seemingly is in Game of Thrones. Yes, they were atmospheric and glad stopped off here.

Car dropped off and back to the hotel to get ready for going out for tea. This time it was a restaurant called Made in Belfast.

Another fabulous day and yes, shattered!
