Up Late

I wondered what the flash of yellow was in the garden amongst the fading foliage and dying leaves of autumn. What a pleasant surprise, to find a Kniphofia (Red Hot Poker though a yellow variant) throwing up a new flower - in late October! Obviously the plant is unaware of the date as by now it should be slumbering its way into 2013.
