Snowdrops
I've now learned six notes at my recorder lessons (!) We played a simple duet today and it sounded lovely. I struggle a bit with listening to the beat and following the music and remembering & responding to the different symbols - a bit like patting your chest and circling your stomach! But it's fun and great to make music....sort of.
After my lesson I hopped on the train to Leeds. Tony was already in the first carriage. We called in at Waterstones and I picked up a couple of books; last year's Costa Award winner 'Reservoir 13' and a Man Booker shortlisted book 'History of Wolves'. We were hoping to see Mark selling Big Issue outside the store where he has been for several years, but he hasn't been there on the last three visits we have made so it's a bit worrying. The chap in Waterstones said they hadn't seen him in a couple of months and they are happy to have him there. He did work part time in the office at the magazine so I'm hoping he has moved off the streets, particularly as he has several health problems.
We picked up some ink cartridges as Tony will be working on his Masters soon, and yet another lens cap for my camera (!) and some coffee. Back at the station we grabbed a takeaway and cuppas, good to see that Pret a Manger accepted our reusable cups, then it was back on the train and home.
Blurb are presently running a 40% off offer so I've sent the first edition of our Family Album, covering just nine years from 1980 - 1989, nearly 1000 photos! It will be interesting to see the quality as they are such old photos and not terribly good quality. Watch this space.
Thank you to NannaK for drawing our attention to the 'Guppy Friend' which is a bag in which to place your fleece garments for washing. The bag captures 90% of the micro-fibres released into the washing machine and from there in to the drainage system. As someone who lives in fleece jumpers, I have been very concerned about this environmental impact, since watching the most recent David Attenborough series, and have ordered one of the bags. Watch this space!
This small bunch of snowdrops are just outside our kitchen door and I couldn't let them go over without blipping them.
