Rose

I was very pleased that I snapped off a couple of quick photos (of these past their best roses) that were sitting in this wee vase and should have been in the bin a couple of days ago this morning as we are home late and I'm tired.

We're just home from a family funeral.....an elderly gentleman of 91 years, my Mum cousin's husband.  While that may seem a distant relation in fact I had such a lot of contact with him throughout my childhood as the cousins were very close.  I grew up with their children too (my second cousins) and that has continued over the years.
His funeral was perfect, the "afters" perfect too.....lots of reminiscing and lots of laughter.  Its been a long day, I got roped into doing lots of photography too.

The poem was recited by one of his granddaughters, I rather liked it and so appropriate for Jack.

A Fallen Limb
A limb has fallen
from the family tree ..
I hear a voice that whispers

‘Grieve not for me’.
Remember the best times
the laughter, the songs ..
The good I lived
while I was strong.

Continue my heritage
I’m counting on you ..
Keep on smiling
the sun will shine through.

My mind is at ease
my soul is at rest ..
Remembering all, how
I was truly blessed.

Continue traditions
no matter how small ..
Go on with your lives
don’t stare at the wall.

I miss you all dearly
so keep up your chin ..
Until that fine day
we’re together again.

Rainie
