A cold, frosty day coupled with a good gym work out required some hearty food tonight.

My tapenade looked like slurry as my Lidl blender did too good a job too quickly, but Ros and Geoff didn’t mind as it tasted good with some garlicky toasted sourdough.

This is the chorizo, chickpea, aubergine, mushroom, red pepper stew fortified with Cragside Cracker sizzling sausages and served with kale.

Pudding was using up some frozen summer berries to make a summer pudding. We were too full for cheese.

We had a lovely evening. Roz is introducing the next topic at our discussion group on the ethics of gene manipulation.

We also talked about how we could develop a strategy for our book group where we can get the two forceful and quite dominant women who want to talk about the cruises they have been on, back to discussing the book. Any ideas welcome - we don’t want to break away but it might come to that!
