A Chilly Walk on Simonside

Some friends had planned a walk from Bolam Lake to Shafto Crag, but when I picked Val up the snow was coming down quite heavily, so we decided not to drive so far. We headed up the local hill, which I have often blipped, but not like this, with the first dusting of snow. We didn’t stop for our picnic as it was so cold. The walk is only about 5 miles but does involve a steep climb.

I’ve just noticed that 3 years ago exactly I posted my colourful painting of this very rock. How’s that for coincidence?!
Now I’m about to have a hot bath, then i’ll do my knitting.
