El dia de la madre

Cicely and I were honoured to be asked to join Eva and her daughter, sister, nephew and mother for lunch to celebrate Mother's Day Arentine style! It is not very different to how we do at home, flowers were bought and given and we sat around for a delicious lunch cooked by the three generations of girls in this family. It really was a brilliant afternoon, lots of red meat, Fernet and good humour!
Sadly, the afternoon did terminate in a trip to A & E after a broken glass caused some spectacular damage to poor Eva's hand, however, thanks to the fact that we are one block from the local hospital she was stitched up and back home before we had even finished the washing up! I am so pleased that I chose to stay with a family especially one as welcoming as Eva and her daughter and it is very reassuring to know that the usual chaos of a family gathering occurs in every family wherever you are in the world!
