Another fabulous break in the weather so we went for a walk down by Lake Washington. My husband, who has a better eye for birds, saw this guy up the tree. Actually, he heard it first. Unfortunately, he was partly shaded but I didn't even see the red spot until I looked at the photo (I mean the bird, not my husband). 

The extra is a flowering shrub at my house - I loved the way the sun was shining behind it. 

Went to work out at the gym today and told my trainer-friend about my Sunday afternoon experience, and he's like, "yeah, that's when all the old guys go to pick up women." Um, not a good strategy...
