Westray
A beautiful day on the island of Westray. Ferry out at 7.20 and nothing back until 5.55, but that made for a relaxing pace for the day.
The sky was blue and the sun shone as I drove around meter reading and listening to reports of severe weather on its way.
A perfect island visit, with helpful folk pointing me in the right direction for key holders, and properties which the map wasn't showing clearly.
Perhaps my most pleasing achievement was the public toilet reading. (Never easy to get). I asked in the shop whether the assistant knew the person who cleaned the toilets. The meter is often in the cleaning cupboard. Yes, she did - he also did the post one day a week - today - and he was in the back of the shop, having just finished his round. Brilliant luck and an interesting chat with this guy who, like myself, does half a dozen jobs to fill his working year.
Lots of lovely views for a blip, but in the end chose this interesting piece of machinery.
The extra is the sign at the airport (or, perhaps more accurately, airstrip).
