One day in New Orleans!

We woke up really early and rode the streetcar down to a great restaurant for a southern breakfast of eggs (over easy) home smoked blackened bacon and grits (pronounced gree-urts)!
Then we went on a paddle steamer down the Mississippi to where the battle of New Orleans was fought against the British in 1814/15. The historian took great delight in telling us the the British were defeated! I love the oak trees draped in Spanish moss, the one in the photo is on the battlefield.
The afternoon was spent exploring the French Quarter, which was very touristy, especially along Bourbon Street, and no, we didn't buy a huge ass beer!
