And the award goes to...the CBC!
I was passing through Toronto's underground PATH system (the world's largest underground shopping complex) and passed by the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) headquarters and several displays of their awards over the years. I'm not sure what they all are but one of the Emmy's (the gold statuettes) was for The Road to Avonlea, according to the inscription. I've never held one but I have held an Oscar in my hands once. Back in college around 1984 the instructor brought in a guest who had won it in 1968. It was quite heavy and much of the gold electroplating had worn off because he brought it to schools all the time. That gentleman was Christopher Chapman, producer and director of the live action short documentary film called A Place To Stand which was a tribute to the province of Ontario for its centennial year (and Canada's, too) and featured at Expo 1967 in Montreal. It pioneered the "multi-dynamic image technique" which you can see in the film on YouTube.
