The elephant in the park
After breakfast we went for a walk in Kelvingrove park, very icy and slippy. There was a layer of sand/salt along the path that made it easier to walk. It did look lovely though with a few people taking their dogs for a walk or out for a Sunday jog.
We had a look in the Museum and then got in a taxi to the House for art lovers at Bellahouston Park.First we looked at the art exhibition, wondered round the garden to look at the sculptures and found this elephant in the snow.Made by Sculptor Kenny Hunter, a life size elephant weighing 11 tonnes stands on the spot where the Great British Empire exhibition took place in 1938.It is made of scrap metal from locomotives that were built in Glasgow.
We then had a wonderful Afternoon tea in the House. What an amazing setting with wonderful windows looking over a snowy garden.
We looked around the house that was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh.https://www.houseforanartlover.co.uk/about/history-of-the-house
Beautiful rooms especially the music room and super little details. We spent a lot of time just exploring the rooms and sitting on all the chairs.
Back to the hotel , a delicious dinner in a nearby restaurant and then on to the SECC to see the Imagine Dragons, amazing show Great sound and lights.
Another icy, slippery walk back to the hotel which took much longer than it would on a dry day.
