Tiny Tuesday: "Mechanism"

Detail of a very old-fashioned hole punch. I was admiring the workmanship, thinking how much I prefer this to modern ones with moulded plastic parts, when I accidentally discovered that while the makers had invented a cunning way of keeping the little paper circles stored, they hadn't yet developed the means to stop them spilling out over the floor when some idiot turns the punch upside down!! My study looks like someone's been scattering confetti...
