A night in town
I stopped at Val’s on my way to the gym. She showed me how to crochet a chain for Ella’s jacket. I used to crochet but so long ago I’d forgotten!
Tonight we went to town to Paradiso for food before going to the Side Cinema. Amber films were showing their short film about Rostok. In 1987 they interviewed members of a fishing co-op and women crane workers at the docks, then went back recently to interview them again about the changes. It was so interesting - some were happily adapted to the capitalist system, whereas others had suffered from lack of employment - the west had no need of women crane drivers. To add to the enjoyment our friend Ken had composed and played the music. #2 daughter joined us. She is fluent in German, lived there for a year, and her ex came from East Berlin, having grown up there in Soviet times. So we all knew a fair bit of the pros and cons of the system.
After the film we walked along the Quayside where I blipped the Sage, our magnificent concert hall.
