Greyfriars graveyard

Is fascinating. Interesting memorials, some with scary skeletons abound. Some of them are attached to the houses surrounding the graveyard. I was interested to see what is known as a mortsafe, a sort of cage put over the graves, to protect the bodies from grave robbers. Not to protect valuables, rather to protect from the dissecting rooms of The Edinburgh medical school! See extras. The Greyfriars Bobby who sat on his owner’s grave for is also commemorated here.

Went to see the Wildlife Photograper Exhibition on at the National Museum....which was excellent.
