He Can Wait

Dear O'H dear and Lovely Tea Jenny,

Eldest Mini Princess had her Grade 4 piano exam today. It was in St Cuthbert’s church on Lothian Road.

We initially went to the wrong church and were informed that there was a service on. As we left, EMP joked that ‘Jesus can wait. I have an exam’. Churches must have the same effect on both of us. I always want to be naughty and giggle. I know this is exactly the opposite of how you are supposed to behave, but that just makes it worse.

Despite the false start, we were still early when we arrived at the right church. EMP was impressively calm . She went in to do her exam and the minister appeared and started chatting to me.

‘Just to make you aware, we have an AA meeting AND a funeral in the lunch break so don’t be spooked if you see a hearse’

I found this hilarious. There was then a big debate with the music exam steward over where the first examinee after lunch should practise.

‘Hmm, the normal practice room is being used for the AA meeting but it ALWAYS overruns and probably best not to do it in here, as the coffin will be coming out this way. Might spook the child.’

Didn’t like to mention that it probably wouldn’t be ideal for the mourners!

These kind of logistical problems don’t come up in IT.
