The Sefton Coast

This the natural environment of the area where we live, the SW of the NW as such, the coast of Sefton the ladn between the rivers Mersey and Ribble. An area of sand dunes, one of the largest area of dunes in Europe and an environmentally sensitive area. Much of it has been changed, trees planted, caravan sites developed, car parks for the visitor sites and so on, but where it remains largely unaltered this is what there is, huge areas of beach washed twice a day by the sea, large mobile sand dunes changing regularly with the wind, areas of fixed dunes where marram grass has stabilised sand dunes and wet slacks where the sand has been blown away down to the water table allowing plants and animals that prefer the wet areas to thrive.
All very interesting - but really difficult to photograph!
