Not part of selfie nation
This is the second selfie of the trip, I think. The first was in Rome at the beginning of our trip; this one is celebrating the successful conclusion of our pilgrimage to get pasteis de belem.
Another similarity to Rome: when we went to St. Peter's we encountered huge crowds because the Pope was speaking from his window. We had no idea! Today we encountered huge crowds in Belem because the Portugal marathon was finishing there, right in front of the egg custard place. Thinking we'd avoid the crowds, we saw some of the sights of Belem then went back for dessert late in the day. But no, it was still packed. So we got ours to go and found a coffee kiosk near the bus stop and enjoyed the treats, still warm.
My main task when I get home this week: cut off the sugar intake! Portuguese desserts are very habit forming.
