Ayrlies Gardens
We drove an hour out of Auckland to Whitford to visit one of the most beautiful gardens in NZ. Bev McConnell, the owner, designer and gardener is a wonderful lady aged 87 who dreamed of creating a garden as a young bride. With a recently added wet land, the garden now covers 10 acres.
After a talk by Bev herself, she took us for a ramble, sharing her great knowledge and love of plants. As we neared one of the lakes a string trio was playing in the gazebo. Pure magic.
We all gathered together by some trees for a box picnic lunch and as we ate, the Oportunity performers entertained us with song and music. Another brief ramble in the garden and then we were on out way back to our hotel.
Tonight we are off to the pop up Globe theatre to see a performance of MacBeth. How special is that!
