inspired by our shrimp plant
This plant was already in the garden when we arrived here a year ago. I didn't like it much, and it was in the wrong place, so I cut it hard back.
It has fought back bravely, is at least as big as it was originally, and has gone on 'flowering' throughout the Summer. (although I think, technically, that it is the bracts which are more apparent.) Now it has produced these bright ruby berries which, I understand, are considered a delicacy by domestic hens. I wonder if other birds will like them. We certainly need something to attract the birds into our garden. They seem very reluctant to eat the food we put out. We think the neighbouring cats might account for their reluctance to visit us.
In any case,I think the shrimp plant has justified its place in the garden.
