inspired by a wind farm co-operative
We attended a Planning Committee Meeting in the Town Hall this morning. The Baywind Energy Co-operative had asked for our support for a plan to upgrade the existing five wind turbines at Barrow-in-Furness, thus quadrupling the present output. I have been a member of a wind farm co-operative in Aberdeenshire for a number of years and so was keen to lend my support. As it turned out, the application was deferred until the Baywind Energy Co-operative have a reasonable chance to review the planning department's recommendation for refusal.
About thirty supporters of the scheme were all given one of these huge sticky badge to wear. We all sat quietly watching the formal proceedings. Having never before taken part in any such gathering, I was surprised at the impact this silent message made. We have all been asked to attend the meeting next time the application comes on to the agenda.
We will be there.
