Windy day in the Bay of Islands

Our trip on a sea shuttle out to the Hole in the Rock on Cape Brett proved to be both exhilarating and frustrating. The former because the seas were high and rough and a lot of the time we were cutting through high swells. The latter because at the hole in the rock we could only sit at the entrance and look through at the huge seas on the other side. The funnel shape of the hole means you need nearly flat calm so you don’t hit the walls.
We had to stay inside and seated too and so most of my photos blurred by rain and spray or just plain blurry.
Another frustration is that I went on to sports mode to combat movement and it doesn’t do RAW so too small to blip.
However that aside it was a wonderful trip. Learned a lot of history and saw a lot of new country and sea.
Only two more days to go. It has flashed by. Over to Russell tonight for dinner and more singing. A fabulous St Patrick’s night at Marsden Winery with all the green hats, whistles, beads, balloons etc.

NB I managed to put two extras of the hole in the rock that I know are blurry but gives you an idea of the sea.
