Coldoch House
Tim Black, the gardener at Coldoch House, took us on a private guided tour of the garden.
One of his jobs is the annual trimming of the box hedges (see extra photo of vegetable garden), a massive job involving several pieces of sophisticated machinery (I had visions of him going around with pair of secateurs).
We were there for the annual drinks party for garden owners organized by Scotland’s Gardens Scheme, which is held each year at a different country house.
This year they had changed the time. Instead of an evening event it was lunchtime – much better.
In the past we have found ourselves driving down country lanes in the dark looking for some big country house or castle inevitably tucked well away from the road and at the end of a long drive.
At least in the daylight we can see where we are going.
