Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2018 Sunday — See Grammie Fun

These two, Nikki and Aaron, are Grammie Fun’s grandkids from San Diego. They are the kids of Mr. Fun’s deceased little brother. Today they have driven from San Diego to see Grammie in the Board & Care for the first time. Grammie has been in the Board & Care since Thursday afternoon, March 8th; so about 10 days. Most of the time she is asleep, and she was today.

Nikki and Aaron were pretty sure Grammie did not know they were there. Aaron had his two teenage sons with him today. I’m sure it was emotionally painful for all four of them to see Grammie. She is most likely at Death’s door. She is certainly on the front porch looking at the door.

After their visit at the Board & Care, they came to Grammie’s house to collect the items that Grammie had designated as theirs and to look through the multitude of other things that have been collecting since 1955/56 when they moved into the house.

Mr. Fun & I have now spent one week emptying every closet, drawer, cupboard, and shelf. What a job! What a mess. Her sewing room has yardage, yardage, and more yardage. Enough spoils of thread and bobbins for 20 seamstresses, and that is just one room in that custom built home that includes a basement, which is very rare in Southern California.

After about 3 1/2 hours at Grammie’s house, the four of them packed a sizable amount of items into Nikki’s family van and said their goodbyes. We locked Grammie’s house and headed home to get our three pups out of their crates.

We are absolutely exhausted, and this journey of preparing Grammie’s house to sell, and then selling it, is far from over.

From Southern California,
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
