Cigs

Earlston Place

Deeply unfashionable Earlston Place has suddenly had an injection of kudos and zeitgeist as Cigs rolls into town armed with cans of spray paint.

Backstory - my former workie was directing What the Butler Saw at the Brunton Theatre in Musselburgh. Me and her went along after work (there are still tickets available for tonight's performance) and in the finest tradition of Benny HIll and Terry and June, much hilarity was had by all.

After the show, we zipped across the road and onto a 44 and off homewards. As we snaked into town (when does Leith Street reopen? Anyone?), we stopped to let someone off outside the Safari Lounge and lo! All over the shutters of Whit Eagle (sic) was another purple and silver combo from late summer 2017.

I did the gentlemanly thing and escorted her home before grabbing the bike and heading off on a non direct route home.

I think this shot might well feature in the final chapters of Cigs the book - knitting together incest, buggery, outrageous women and strange love - cults catering for depraved appetites. All the fashionable bric-a-brac along with the occasional Youtz reference.

Dr Prentice is alive and well and painting his name all over town.
