George’s Hayes

The Staffordshire Wildlife Trust have taken over this lovely, smaller reserve. They’ve cleared quite a bit, and sorted the signs for the paths, but it’s still quite hazardous on the narrow muddy bits.

That’s why it’s been two years since I last visited. I couldn’t have managed last year. In 2016 the daffodils were more advanced and the weather sunnier. The wild garlic was flourishing. But it was still just as charming and peaceful.

The area, with its well established wild daffodils, was taken over by Staffordshire council when it it came to light that the daffodils were turning up for sale in the Birmingham markets. Now it’s the responsibility of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.

Well worth a visit....
