9,000 purple crocuses
In October 2016 Friends of Bramall Hall & Park in conjunction with Bramhall & Woodford Rotary Club planted 9,000 purple crocuses. The purpose of planting the crocuses was to draw attention to Rotary International's phenomenally successful battle to eradicate polio from the world. There is a notice board explaining what it was all about.
The crocuses we planted are doing OK given the recent horrendous weather - but I do think we may have lost a few. I didn't count them, but it doesn't look like 9,000 any more.
