Luca
Elif and Seyran have called the baby Luca Francis - I think it's a lovely name, and Luca in Turkish means the bringer of light or light after dark.
Elif called me this morning and said that they had to stay in hospital for a couple of days, and that she was in a hospital about 40 minutes away from home as the maternity unit at Brighton was full. Luckily Seyran had been able to stay the night with her, but her mum obviously wanted to go to see Elif and Luca, but had no way of getting there. As she doesn't speak any English, she would have struggled on public transport, so I offered to pick mum up and take her there this morning. I was conscious that they needed family time and didn't want to intrude, so I said I'd take her, pop in to see them and then I'd go to the supermarket to do my weekly shop, and then go back to pick mum up and take her home.
Her mum was very emotional and started crying in the car and kept thanking me for taking her. She only knows a few words such as 'welcome', 'thank you', 'baby' and 'sorry', so communication during our journey wasn't easy, but we managed. And when we got to the hospital Elif said that her mum was crying because she was so grateful to me for taking her and said that I'd made her day. I'm just happy to have been able to help, and also I got to see their gorgeous baby boy :-)
Luckily Elif asked me if I'd take my camera, and of course I was more than happy to oblige, and then when they go home, I'll go round and take some more photos for them.
By the time I got home it was nearly 4pm, so the rest of my afternoon was spent doing my washing, tidying up and cooking the Sunday roast. Alan mowed the grass for the first time, and cut the bramble between us and the farmer's field, then he'd made a target and was doing a bit of target practice with his air pistol.
All in all it's been a good day, although I don't know where the time's gone, mind you we lost an hour this morning, but it was worth it as it's been lovely and light tonight :-)
Another weekend over, hope you've had a good one!
