Everyday I Write The Book

Feel the love

We went to London without a plan and walked West along the river, from Westminster past Vauxhall to where all the new developments around Battersea power station are taking place - enough cranes to adorn a terminator movie, a great net of steel (see extras). You reach a point where the embankment is no longer navigable on foot so we took a bus to a vegan restaurant we had found on google called called 222:
http://www.222vegan.com
The food was gorgeous, a hearty lunchtime buffet full of flavour. The dishes were beautifully flavoured, things like lentil bake, potatoes and plantains, kale salad, a fantastic broccoli and pumpkin seed dish ... we got to meet Ben the head chef who gave us a couple of tips and told us about the very different evening session which is more restaurant style.

Even more of a reason to visit is the fact that London’s only vegan supermarket is bang next door although we didn’t have time to linger as TSM’s brother was working at his partner’s rug shop in the King’s Road. So we hopped on another bus and spent half an hour with them before decanting to Megan’s down the road

Where we had vegan chocolate and raspberry cake and coffee. Megan’s has quite an extensive vegan menu including vegan chorizo kebab and cauliflower buffalo wings so we will be going back. They have the most beautiful garden room with an electric roof (see extras), the sort of place where you could sit for hours with a bottle of wine and a couple of friends.

Lovely day, walked around the corner to imperial wharf and came home via Clapham Junction in no time. If you are ever in that area there is also a pub with a vegan menu called The Imperial. What made it so lovely was that everyone was warm and friendly, particularly the staff at 222. One of the reasons I went vegan; you can feel the love ...
