Dust on the Lens?

Unfortunately on this occasion the small white spots on the picture are not dust on the lens. Today we have had the first snow of the year. It seems quite early for snow, and it is unlikely to settle. But here we are already in winter.

Funny sort of a day, it has been cold all day but mostly sunny. I heard a strange noise that I thought could not be rain, and so it proved. It was the sound of melting snow falling on a nearby roof.

Naturally I dashed out to take a photograph of this historic event.
