Pub with a view

It’s small wonder our small group continue to come back to the Jolly Sailor pub at Old Bursledon, close to Southampton, when you get a view like this from the bar and dining room.
It lies between the quaintly named Lands End Road and the River Hamble and you can reach it from either. In fact it is probably easier to approach it from the water by way of the pub’s own pontoon on the river, rather than have to contend with no less than 50 steps down the side of the steep cliff from the rad . . . And back up again!
And if you think it all looks familiar - the pub featured regularly in the television series Howard’s Way which focussed on life on the river a few years back.
And the view, not to mention the pub itself, is as magical as ever.
