Tidal Flow
Tidal Flow
You can bet your life that the activity on this waterway is much greater when the tide is in. As it is, despite the low tide mud flats and the time of year, you get an uninterrupted view of the historic village church.
Eling Creek on the northern reaches of Southampton Water, and forming the border of the New Forest National Park, is home to the Eling Sailing Club and when the tide is in is packed with small craft. More than that it is the hub of the Eling Tide Mill, one of only two tide mills remaining in the United Kingdom. The other is at Woodbridge in Suffolk.
The mill itself has undergone major refurbishment and re-opens in 11 days time.
