Roll With It

The Night Before

Tomorrow is the first Poppy Laying of 2012. The Falmouth ceremony takes place at the Remembrance Garden at 11:00.
The crosses, seven of them, are for my family and Clare's grandfather, each one has the name, rank and regiment/service in which they served and in one case the date he was KIA. I prepare them, attach their regimental/service badge and we are ready to go tomorrow.
I lay one representing the Royal Naval Association and the children select one of the seven to lay. Once all the dignitaries have laid theirs and left then the children and I lay the remaining family five.
Following that bit a friend and I along with the children then head off to Falmouth Cemetery where we lay crosses on the graves of the Military Graves in the Military Section of the cemetery.
It is a long and emotionally draining morning which I find sad, but at the same time uplifting.
