Throwing in the Towel
You really couldn’t make it up- well you might if you were a pessimist, but you would still have a little hope that you would be wrong.
Little did we think when we booked our 2 night Easter break, our first time away from the Dower House in 6 months, that we would be caught in the middle of yet another amber bad weather warning.
We left Edinburgh in the rain and cold yesterday to find Peebles also in the rain and cold, with worse to come today when it has provided sleet and snow all day. Our plans for walking and roaming the area admiring the spring flowers have come to naught.
We did of course manage to battle our way to Colt’s for their wonderful walnut and cranberry scones before heading back to the warmth of the Hydro (see extra image) and the gym to work off the extra calories while watching the whiteout beyond the windows. Truly unbelievable. It gives us an insight into what it must be like to live within the Arctic Circle.
The Pebbles resident in my blip has thrown in the towel and I don’t blame him.
Tomorrow is said to be better, but we will be on our way home again.
