Opening Time

A glorious Spring day ... if a tad chilly early and late ... saw the first pulsatilla flowers opening as the sunshine gained warmth through the day - the extras show the difference between 945 and 1230.

After our trip to Wales, Easter and Mum's birthday I started the day making a list ... a long one ... of all the things that need doing.  There's a fair number of ticks now but the list grew as the day went on.  Admin, phone calls, laundry took their turn but after lunch I was mostly outside, the biggest job being some heavy pruning of the 30ft high christmas tree and adjacent 20ft holly which need to be completely removed eventually.  Too much shade over the greenhouse plus the risk of storms depositing large bits of tree in unwanted places - mostly the greenhouse - mean this sad task is necessary.  Another nice day coming up tomorrow, could it finally be that Spring has arrived?
