Silk Mill Pub Mural

I was working in Derby today and took a lunchtime walk to the Cathedral area with a work friend. Near to the Cathedral is the Silk Mill, now a museum, which featured as my blip on 25th May, and close to that is the Silk Mill Pub.

An entire side wall of the pub is taken up by this mural which commemorates the 1833 Silk trades lock out, a conflict that lasted for around eight months.

The pub won a CAMRA City Pub of the Year award in 2011, but I have never tried it out - an omission that I must put right soon.
