Dolphin watch

I went on a hike to get breakfast then, after a leisurely morning we went out to explore our surroundings. We stopped to take in the view at the Christo Rei statue then took a drive into Funchal. 

We were only supposed to be checking out boat trips for later in the week but on the spur of the moment decided to go out on the catamaran dolphin and whale watching.

We were lucky to have sight of a pod of dolphins three times, even seeing a couple jump. Then the skipper suddenly went full throttle as he had spotted the whales. We saw two sperm whales and one even gave us a tail wave. Very exciting.

With the camera on burst I took over 1,800 pictures, mostly just of the sea, but I was rewarded with a few records of our sightings. Another one in extras.
