Currents & Hops
We left Kaiteriteri at 10am this morning, after spending a wonderfully relaxing few days by the sea. We stopped in Motueka on the way home, and did a bit of shopping at The Warehouse, then headed home via the Motueka Valley. As we came off the Stanley Brook hill, I took this landscape picture through the car window. The rows of bushes are Blackcurrents, while to the left hand middle of the picture are hop fields. Young hop plants have been planted and over the next few months they will grow up the strings until they reach the top and are then harvested. You may be able to see this clearer if you enlarge the photo.
We passed through Tapawera, and had lunch at the Kohatu Cafe, and arrived home in time for the afternoon milking.
Many thanks for everyone's kind comments while we were away. It was great to have a few days away from the farm - and to see something different other than cows!
