Wild One

Rain, Rain, Rain! This rather 'wild-looking' female Pileated certainly didn't let a little rain stop her from enjoying what is probably her favorite 'snack'... BarkButter. And on a more somber note...the tiny Chickadee chicks fledged yesterday late afternoon. I got a few shots of three of them, although there might actually be four babes. Take a quick look at the *extra! I don't know who decided that they should leave the dry comfort of the nest box at that exact moment but...it wasn't the best decision. Just as their parents were trying mightily to feed all of them, the sky opened up! It rained all the rest of the afternoon and all night as well. It was still raining off and on this morning and there's more of the wet stuff (what the Florida State Chamber of Commerce prefers to call 'Liquid Sunshine') in the forecast for today. Although I have no real way of knowing, I hope the little ones made it thought the night. It was one heck of a welcome into this world! :(
