Tessa and the bridge

Today's the day ........................... for Poohsticks

We were playing Poohsticks with Tessa today from a bridge over her local stream - Cairn Water - which flows through the village of Moniave.

Now, everyone knows that it's a game in which each player throws a stick over the upstream side of a bridge into a stream or river, the winner being the person whose stick emerges first from under the bridge.  Tess seemed very well acquainted with the object of this exercise - and insisted on choosing everyone's stick for them.  As a result, she was usually the winner.

What I didn't realise was just how famous and well-known the game of Poohsticks is.  In fact, it has just been announced that the 2018 World Poohsticks Championships will be held on Sunday 3rd June 2018 at Langel Common, Witney.  You can find out all about it on the Poohsticks website here ................................
