A Wee Poser...
Once again the best laid plans and all that.
Just after 10.15pm last night Alan threw up. He had a temperature and said he generally felt rubbish. Some paracetamol and he was soon settled in bed and slept ok. This morning however, he woke up with a temperature and was sick twice and had a few red spots on his right leg. A quick phone call to the Health Centre and they said one of the GP's would call in later this morning.
When the GP arrived she gave Alan a thorough check over. Thankfully his BP, heart rate and oxygen levels were all fine. Temp still up a bit but not as high as it had been. She listened to his chest and concluded he has a chest infection and perhaps a gastric bug. Antibiotics prescribed and a cream for the rash.
He was happy enough so I think we've caught it early. The downside was it meant we couldn't go to Marion's daughter's evening wedding reception, which is a shame as we were looking forward to it and Alan was looking forward to dancing with the bride.
Thankfully the other plan for the day, which was a first Blipmeet with Helpix, went ahead. She arrived mid afternoon bearing a pot of her homemade wild garlic pesto (more on that later) and is every bit as lovely, interesting, knowledgeable and fun as her journal suggests.
As is often the case with blippers, we were brought together by another blipper (who resides on the other side of the world but has Scottish roots) and once again I was delighted to experience that odd but amazing situation where you meet a stranger who is already a friend.
We spent a very enjoyable few hours (well it was enjoyable for me :-)) chatting and I got to have a shot of her current kit, including what can only be described as a space age camera that is so unlike anything I have ever seen, I can't even begin to describe it.
Lola was remarkably well behaved considering she was mega excited to meet H and I sat back and watched her posing for H's impromptu photo shoot (which I captured using my phone as I put my camera down somewhere and can't remember where!)
Lola was very interested in H's bag and her head disappeared inside it a few times. I had a vision of half eaten camera kit but thankfully that didn't happen.
As is always the case when Blippers get together, the time seemed to fly and all too soon it was time for H to leave. This may have been our first blipmeet but I am sure it won't be the last.
So, a good day in the end despite Alan not feeling great (thankfully he's not been sick since this morning) and we made delicious garlic pesto mash with H's little pot of heaven, to have with venison steaks. Absolutely amazing!
Thanks for coming H, it was so great to meet you at last. Thank you for the little pot of heaven, our fresh greens and our postcards. I look forward to our next get together :-))
