The Tallest Man on Earth

Well not quite but he is pretty amazing.

It was off to Edinburgh for the weekend as we had tickets to see The Tallest Man on Earth at the HMV Picture House. We decided just to get a hotel and make a proper weekend of it.

We got a room at the Ramada Jarvis on Princes Street next to Jenners and were hoping to have a room looking onto the castle but sadly that wasn't the case.

Anyway we set off on our adventure down Rose Street looking at all the cool we auld men pubs and spoke about how you don't really get that many of them in Glasgow.

Then we had a look down Queensferry for a place to eat but we must have taken a wrong turn and got a bit lost but we found ourselves again on Lothian Road outside the Picture House but we were about 3 hours too early.

So we had previously decided on Indian or Italian cuisine and we ended up in Kama Sutra which was very nice. Next up was Lebowskis - we lasted about 10 seconds turned and left. Turns out it is far from the one in Glasgow!

Decisions, decisions, what shall we do. It's either go exploring, risk getting lost and missing the show trying to find a nice wee pub for pre gig drinks or go to the venue. We were feeling adventurous so we headed for the venue nice and early.

What a great choice it was to! We had pretty much the pick of the place we found ourselves a great spot on the top floor close to all local amenities with a fantastic view. From here we enjoyed a pretty fantastic gig.

Only downside was it did finish a bit earlier than what we are used to but it was such a great set including a fantastic cover of Graceland and finishing with The Dreamer

Then it was back to Rose Street for a couple of drinks.

The Dreamer

"I'm just a dreamer but I'm hanging on
Though I am nothing big to offer
I watch the birds, how they dive in then gone
It's like nothing in this world's ever still

And I'm just a shadow of your thoughts in me
But sun is setting, shadows growing
A long cast figure will turn into night
It's like nothing in this world ever sleeps

Oh sometimes the blues is just a passing bird
And why can't that always be
Tossing aside from your birches crown
Just enough dark to see
How you're the light over me

And by your side, girl, where the acres grow
Into the strong and stunning meadow
A cowboy stumbling in the finest field
And nothing good out there won't be old

Oh sometimes the blues is just a passing bird
And why can't that always be
Tossing aside from your birches crown
Just enough dark to see
How you're the light over me

Sometimes the blues is just a passing bird
And why can't that always be
Tossing aside from your birches crown
Just enough dark to see
How you're the light over me"
