Santorini

This was chaotic, we had to be 'tendered' off the ship, and unfortunately 4 other cruise ships were also docked, so approximately 10,000 people descended on this little island. Once we reached the harbour, the only way up to the village was by: cable car, donkey ride or walk up 800 steps. We decided on the cable car and queued for an hour, it then took 2 minutes to get up to the village. It was impossible to do anything meaningful as the small streets were jam packed with tourists. We walked round for about an hour, then decided to get the cable car back down, unfortunately there was a 2 hour queue, so we decided to walk down the 800 steps, the same steps that the donkeys use, so you can imagine the state of them. At least Roy and I had trainers on, unlike quite a few people who wore flimsy sandels or flip flops. It took us about 40 minutes to walk down, at one point I was a bit worried about Roy as he looked a funny colour, but he was okay.

We got the tender back to the ship and had a nice relaxing lunch, and a well earned rest.

In bottom left hand picture you can see the cable car and to the right of that the 800 steps.
